Graceful Abandon exists to encourage and equip Christian women to apply the truth of Scripture (and the beautiful hope of the Gospel!) to daily life.

The women who read Graceful Abandon are wives and moms from all walks of life and often various stages who are seeking one thing: JESUS. They want to know Him and make Him known in their marriages, through their interactions with their children, in their homes, and in their own hearts.

Content can be geared to the newly saved believer or the woman who has walked with God her entire life; regardless, they both love the Lord and are seeing to apply His truth to their lives.

All submissions to Graceful Abandon must align with our Statement of Faith. Please read the following carefully, as submissions not following these parameters will not be considered.

Structure Guidelines

All posts should be between 800-1200 words.

Every post should be based on or built around at least one Scripture verse (more are welcome!), which must be quoted and cited properly, including version. The preferred version for Scripture is ESV. You may also use NLT, NIV, NKJV, or CSB as long as you clearly state which version you are using.

If you are referencing a Scripture directly but not quoting it, please still reference it in parenthesis or using footnotes.

Please capitalize God’s name (no matter which name you use) and any pronouns referring to God (i.e. we know that He is faithful).

Posts should make proper use of H2 and H3 headings and use short paragraphs for easy mobile reading.

Active voice is strongly preferred over passive. Everyday verbiage is preferred over elaborate words. And if you can say it more succinctly? Do!

All submissions should be thoroughly edited for grammar, punctuation, and spelling before submission. Graceful Abandon articles use the em dash and the Oxford comma.

Please submit as a .doc or .docx file attached to your email.

Style Guidelines

Graceful Abandon is formal in its dedication to presenting Scripture accurately and clearly, but relaxed in its tone. Readers should feel understood and encouraged.

Posts should never be about you, the author, although there are many instances it is appropriate to share a story from your own life to connect with the reader.

Whenever possible, avoid “I” and implement “we” or “you.” This is not a personal blog, but rather a community.

Content at Graceful Abandon is a beautiful mix of inspiration, application, and exhortation. Your post submission can be devotional, motivational, or instructional as long as it is seasoned with grace, leaves the reader encouraged, and is Scripturally sound.

Editing Guidelines

Graceful Abandon reserves the right to edit content to fit its voice when necessary, to change titles/headings within a post, and to add an Editor’s Note when applicable. When relevant, we will add links to other content on this site or sites owned/managed by Lisa Yvonne.

Not every submission will be accepted. Please allow up to 4 weeks for notification of acceptance and 4-12 weeks for publication as the editorial calendar is thoughtfully planned in advance.

Only original content is accepted except in extraordinary circumstances when syndication is possible. Once a post has been accepted, please do not publish it anywhere else; if a post is not accepted for reason you are free to submit it elsewhere.

Seasonal content is accepted year round, but if submitted too close to a holiday it may not appear in time for this year’s celebration so please keep that in mind. To be published during the current year, it should be submitted 90 days in advance of the holiday or event it focuses on.

Please send a high quality square headshot image (jpg) and 2-3 sentence biography written in 3rd person which may include a link to your blog and your social channel or digital offering of choice.

All queries should be sent to [graceful.abandon at gracefulabandon.com] and include your name, email, and link to any websites you own or links to your content. You may submit a completed post or a post pitch; if you send a pitch, please send at least 3 writing samples to be considered.
