At some point in your life, you probably heard the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (found in Daniel 3). These guys refused to bow to an idol and were sentenced to death by fiery furnace.
But did you ever stop to think about the three blessings they were given in the fire? When you do, I guarantee you’ll want those same gifts!
So what are the blessings of walking in the fire?
You Get To Walk Closely With Jesus
These men knew they served the God who was able to deliver them, but who may or may not choose to. They trusted Him.
And He did not disappoint.
No, He didn’t deliver them from the fire, but instead walked with them in it. How beautiful to walk in the fire with Jesus!
When you are in those fiery times, sweet friend, remember you are not alone.
You Are Unbound
The account in Daniel 3 shares that they were thrown into the fire bound, yet walked around freely.
Sometimes the fire brings freedom, my friend. Maybe the heat disintegrated the ropes that tied them down. Maybe the presence of God with them did it.
Whatever the cause, they were in the fire but they were free! Next time you feel the heat, remember that you are still free because He whom the Son sets free is FREE INDEED.
You Are Unharmed
Oh, and isn’t this the most beautiful thing!
Not burned, not scorched, not even the stench of smoke on them. The furnace got so hot that the guards closest to it dropped dead from the heat. And the three men of God? Totally fine.
Remember today that you are His. No matter what heat this life throws your way, the Living Water refreshes you and you are His.
