Time to read through Pentateuch!
The first two weeks of the Read the Bible cover to cover in 90 days challenge read through the first 5 books of the Old Testament…wow!
These five books of the Law have been attributed to Moses and are referred to as the Pentateuch or Torah. They contain the history of the nation of Israel and God’s laws for them to follow.
Do you see the scarlet cord?
From the very beginning, we can see a scarlet cord wind its way through the narrative. In the Garden when God had to sacrifice an animal to cover Adam and Eve’s sin to the blood on the doorposts at the first Passover to the sacrifices spelled out in Leviticus, the need for a sacrifice is clearly evidenced.
As you keep reading, you will see that same theme repeats itself over and over until Jesus comes, and even after that through Revelation. All of Scripture is God’s love letter to you, and all of it points to Christ the Beloved and the Lover of our Souls.
God emphasized discipleship.
Throughout these books, you will see God commanding the nation of Israel to share these things with their children, to make altars that the generations will notice.
God cares so much about everyone knowing Jesus that He begins to tell you how important it is to impart your faith…it’s not meant to be kept to yourself.
One key passage on that is found in Deuteronomy 6, about family discipleship.
